Art Basel Miami celebrated its 21st year in 2023, and the festival certainly has come of age. The event, which originated in Basel, Switzerland in 1970, is now an international art fair staged annually in Basel, Paris, Hong Kong, and Miami. As part of Miami Art Week, Art Basel Miami has grown to become a week-long celebration across South Florida, drawing a who’s-who of A-listers the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Serena Williams, Sean Penn, Cardi B, and Travis Scott, along with several thousand of their closest friends, all descending on the city for a week of festivities including galleries, exhibitions, galas, and of course, multiple concerts and celebrity musical performances all over town. And as in previous years, DAS Audio rocked the crowds in show after show, on stage after stage all over the city.
At the exclusive Chase Sapphire Event in South Beach, R&B artist Miguel and pop sensation Becky G were among performers playing through the latest DAS Audio system. Dynamic Event Productions from New York City deployed a system with 16 LARA powered cardioid cabinets and 12 LARA-SUB subwoofers, augmented with four AERO-20 systems for front fill. Over at the Prestige Imports Showroom, one of the hottest and most talked about events was the “No Commission” exhibition/art showcase curated by celebrity collector and art patron Swizz Beatz. A Grammy award-winning artist himself, he electrified guests on another DAS Audio rig, boasting eight SARA-100 powered compact line array systems complemented by four SARA-SUBs, with production expertise provided by the Miami-based PK Productions team.
Of course, Art Basel revolved around the city’s hottest mega-club, E11EVEN Miami, hosting a star-studded lineup during the week, including artists such as Diplo, Lil Wayne, Deadmau5, and Snoop Dogg. Voted into the Top 10 of The World’s Best Clubs by International Nightlife Association, guests were surrounded by lights, celebrities, and an extraordinary auditory experience, expertly delivered by the E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio speakers around the venue. Palm Tree crew also brought E11EVEN Sound to Casadonna Miami, with the help of Miami-based production company Event Concierge Group. International DJ Peggy Gou performed through a system that included two ES-158 three-way systems and two ES-221 subwoofers, along with eight DAS Audio EVENT-26A cabinets, two EVENT-115A front-loaded subwoofers, and two EVENT-121A active rear-loaded subs. Event Concierge Group also hosted production at Loan Depot Park for the Art, Beats & Lyrics event by Jack Daniels, deploying the same system along with ACTION-M512A monitors for headlining Hip-Hop Icon Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan.
“Miami Art Week and Art Basel are a big part of Miami culture and history, and the music has always been a big part of it,” remarked Dennis Rivadeneira, live sound engineer for the Chase Sapphire Event. “DAS Audio is a big part of what makes the music sound so good. Sound quality was one thing that needed to be perfect, and the DAS Audio system made that happen. It was punchy and clear, even under conditions that many other systems would have found challenging. The control package was simple and intuitive. Both the crews for Grammy-winning artists Miguel and Becky G raved about how simple it was to get the system really cooking. DAS Audio has always amazed me with their simple approach to great sound.”
